It Happened in Riverdale (title story)

This “title story” is set in a fictional time of November-December 1959 and serves to introduce the main character Julie Scott and many other characters through their relationship dynamics and activities with the Riverdale Youth Club. The RYC sponsors a weekend campout at Pine Cove, a mountain retreat, just before Christmas. The Epilogue of this mini-novella, however, skips ahead to a projected time of several years into the future to a wedding day—the 1960s’ “ideal” culmination for any young woman’s adulthood—this one for Julie’s best friend, Sandra Lee.
